Since St. Augustine is the oldest city in the US (founded in 1565) and the starting point of our trip, we decided to wander around and check it out.
Looking up at the St. Augustine lighthouse.
The 219 spiral stairs to the top. This was built in 1874 and I think that is before elevators were invented.
View from the top looking at the Atlantic.

This is the Castillo de San Marcos. I am standing on the drawbridge over the moat. It is a fort that was built starting in 1672 by the Spanish to protect their interest in La Florida. It is made out of Coquina which is a soft limestone made up of broken shells and sand cemented together to make a natural form of concrete. It would absorb a cannon ball hit without breaking apart.
So cool Wayne. Looks like you're making progress. Jenna says you're in Texas. Awesome. Hope you're enjoying yourself.
